Total Inland Transport

What are Inland Transportation services?

Logistics also necessitate a combination of transport options, known as intermodal transportation, in order to be successful. That is why we have expanded our logistics services to include inland transportation. Our inland services, which include truck, train, and barge, are built to bring your goods to their final destination in less time and in the same shipping container they were packed in at their origin.

Rivers, rivers that have been improved or canalized, and specially built canals are the three types of inland waterways. Most, if not all, of the inland transportation of goods, was done by water in the past.

When the vessels were small, the amount of traffic was restricted, and the time factor was not as important, this was possible. However, during the 18th century, ships grew in size, trade increased dramatically, and carriage speed became more important.

  • Advantages:
There is no track to lay or maintain, though, in the case of natural waterways, dredging may be required.
  • They may be the only viable options, such as in extremely difficult mountainous terrain or dense tropical forest; and
  • Under favorable conditions, waterways provide inexpensive transportation for heavy, bulky, perishable commodities like coal, ore, timber, and cement.
